Description
Indian sarsaparilla (Hemidesmus indicus) is a slender, milky, twining, partially erect shrub, found in plane areas, wastelands, leaves are arranged oppositely, small-petioled, elliptic-oblong, a white line on center vain. The stem is slender, numerous, nodded, purple in colour, flowers are greenish outer and purplish in the inner side, crowded in axillary cymes. Roots are woody, aromatic and thin skinned.
Medicinal uses: Anti-diabetic, it is used to treat anti-toxic, leprosy, skin disorders, Vata disorders, syphilis and gonorrhea.
